Positive Penguins app is a resilience-building application tailored for children. Top 10 Paid Education App and Winner of the App for All Challenge 2014.
The app offers a straightforward 5-minute guided meditation session, aiding children in learning to relax and let go of intrusive thoughts.
Moreover, it includes a strategy to help children comprehend that emotions are a result of events or situations and are neither right nor wrong, but rather informative. By recognizing and challenging the narratives they construct about events, children can address them effectively and problem-solve.
While our initial emotional responses are beyond our control, we have the power to choose the narratives we tell ourselves and subsequently our behaviors. The app aims to guide children in comprehending their emotions and responding in a constructive manner.
Featuring both sound and text options, the app also allows users to record responses, offering flexibility beyond traditional typing.
For added amusement, there is a dedicated game mode included in the app.
This resilience strategy is built upon the premise that negative thoughts or stories aren't inherently wrong but can sometimes be inaccurate. Children are encouraged to identify stressful negative thinking patterns, challenge them, and shift towards a more positive and less anxious mindset.
This effective strategy is applicable for adults as well.
Guided by the four Positive Penguins, users embark on an interactive journey to grasp how thoughts give rise to feelings and how challenging negative thoughts can lead to a more realistic and optimistic outlook.
